Claudia Vilela Casaretto, M.D.

Claudia will be earning her M.D. from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She grew up in WI. One of her most recent experiences was working as a volunteer/service/advocacy, Southside Intake Coordinator at MEDiC Clinics in Madison, the SMPH Student-run free clinic. She learned through this experience that many of the patients avoid searching for providers for fear of discrimination or deportation which gave her understanding of the value of trust when establishing rapport with patients. Claudia has engaged in work with many community-based organizations and research projects demonstrating her commitment to the well-being of others. She processes her experiences through poetry, short stories, and journaling, which she can then share with her grandparents.
