Madeleine Nowak, M.D.

Madeleine earned her M.D. from Medical College of Wisconsin. One of her most recent experiences is working as a Patient Activity Assistant at a hospital in Wauwatosa WI where she volunteers 2-3 times per month in the adult inpatient units. This experience gave her a deeper understanding of what a psychiatric hospital is like “off hours” when many physicians have left for the night. She experienced building meaningful relationships with patients by spending time in a non-clinical role. Madeleine has worked as a researcher, peer mentor and in Student Doctor where she worked for the Uninsured and the Bread of Healing Free Clinic. She has experienced personal loss familiarizing her with the devastating effects of mental illness. She has a profound commitment to walk alongside patients with empathy.
