Ryan Benoy, MD

Position title: PGY3

Medical School: University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health


Ryan joined us from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where as a medical student he wrote an action plan to raise awareness for the mental health of high school athletes across Wisconsin and helped created a video about the intersection of mental health and college athletes.  He also worked with Dr. Reardon to co-author textbook chapters and perform literature reviews and Dr. Herringa as part of the Shapiro Summer Research Program.  As a result he has two abstracts and two presentations. Ryan’s leadership skills were showcased as the Co-leader of the Psychiatry Student Interest Group. He also mentored as part of the Big Siblings program and coached youth basketball. His undergraduate work was in biochemistry and biotechnology at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he played Men’s Basketball. Ryan states that he has, “a strong desire to practice humanistic care.” He enjoys playing and watching sports, reading, trail running, bird watching, and spoiling his cat.
