Brandon Bacalzo, M.D.

Medical School: University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine

Brandon earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A Carver College of Medicine in May of 2023. He returned to Madison after attending University of Wisconsin for his undergraduate degree (During his undergraduate years, he also worked as a UW Health volunteer on B6/5!). During his time in Iowa, Brandon has been a part of research in which the “aim was to identify potential mechanisms by which ketamine and its metabolites influence neuronal plasticity”. He has volunteered a lot of his time during medical school to the Short Coat Podcast, Iowa City Free Mental Health Clinic, and for the Carver College of Medicine in which he was eliciting student feedback and reporting it to the Medical Arts and Sciences Committee “for implementation and management of future curricula”. Outside of work he enjoys parenting, practicing mindfulness meditation, and playing video games.
