DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Nathan Harper\, MD \nTopic: Guns and Suicide \nLocation: WebEx \n\nAbout the Speaker: \nDr. Nathan Russell Harper is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at East Carolina University\, Brody School of Medicine. \nDr. Harper is a combined trained physician in the fields of Internal Medicine & Psychiatry.  He is triple board certified in Internal Medicine\, Psychiatry\, and Psychosomatics.  He completed medical school at West Virginia University and residency at ECU Brody school of medicine.  He went on to complete a fellowship in Psychosomatic Medicine at University of Washington in Seattle.  He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Inpatient Psychiatry unit at Vidant Medical Center.  He is involved with resident training and supervises residents on the Consult Liaison Service and in the Internal Medicine Resident Clinic. \n\nAbout the Series: \nThe Educational Conference series is a series of lectures designed to provide clinically useful information to the practicing psychiatrist (faculty or trainee).  Every 1 to 2 months an intra- or extra-departmental speaker is invited to speak on a topic of interest selected by current faculty.  This educational series is open to the public and anyone is welcome to attend.  Continue Medical Education units (CME’s) are available to eligible attendees. \nAccreditation Statement \nIn support of improving patient care\, the University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. \n  \nCredit Designation Statements \nAmerican Medical Association (AMA) \nThe University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \nAmerican Psychological Association (APA) \nContinuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP).
