DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Rachel Robitz\, MD\n\n\n\nTitle: Improving the Health of People Who Have Been Trafficked \nLocation: WebEx \n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n Define human trafficking\nDiscuss the structural factors that put someone at risk of trafficking and impact their ability to recover from trafficking\nDiscuss a healthcare provider’s role in improving the well-being of trafficking survivors\n\n\nAbout the Speaker: \n\n\nRachel Robitz\, MD is the Medical Director of Turning Point Community Program’s Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic\, a walk-in safety net clinic in Sacramento\, CA. She also works as a Family medicine/Psychiatry physician providing care for unhoused populations at Sacramento County Health Center. She is volunteer clinical faculty at UC Davis where she revamped their year-long PGY-2 community psychiatry series into a course taught by a multidisciplinary team including a public mental health administrator and a consumer of public mental health services. She consults on human trafficking and health for HHS’ Office of Trafficking in Persons and as an expert witness in cases involving human trafficking. She completed residency in combined family medicine and psychiatry and a fellowship in community psychiatry at UC San Diego. She was previously the Program Director for UC Davis’ Family Medicine/Psychiatry residency. She has published and presented extensively on human trafficking and health.
