He completed his residency training in Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in 2002 and fellowship training in forensic psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals in 2003. Dr. Knudson is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in the fields of Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. \nDr. Knudson’s work experience has primarily involved inpatient psychiatric treatment of maximum security forensic patients at Wisconsin’s state psychiatric hospital\, Mendota Mental Health Institute\, where he currently acts as the Associate Medical Director. Dr. Knudson has also consulted to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and maintained a private forensic psychiatric practice based out of Madison\, Wisconsin. Dr. Knudson’s academic interests include forensic psychiatric evaluation\, management of violent behavior\, and treatment of psychotic disorders. \n\nAbout the Series: \nThe Educational Conference series is a series of lectures designed to provide clinically useful information to the practicing psychiatrist (faculty or trainee).  Every 1 to 2 months an intra- or extra-departmental speaker is invited to speak on a topic of interest selected by current faculty.  This educational series is open to the public and anyone is welcome to attend.  Continue Medical Education units (CME’s) are available to eligible attendees. \nAccreditation Statement \nIn support of improving patient care\, the University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. \n  \nCredit Designation Statements \nAmerican Medical Association (AMA) \nThe University of Wisconsin–Madison ICEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. \nAmerican Psychological Association (APA) \nContinuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP).
