Meet Our Staff
At the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry, we are creating a humanistic atmosphere for all of our employees, researchers, and trainees. We believe that when people are working in an environment where they feel good about their work, themselves, and their environment, we will promote a sense of well being that translates into new, creative treatments for those suffering from significant mental illness. Current profiles: Julie Lynch and Jerry Halverson.
Julie Lynch
Program Assistant Supervisor
Julie supervises, schedules, and supports five people at the main clinical reception area; meets regularly with clinic managers, Diane Roang and Jeanie Jundt; and has managerial and medical recordkeeping training.
Julie enjoys being able to help people with mental illness, working with a wide variety of health care providers and staff, and making patients feel comfortable with their decision to seek treatment here. “Mental illness used to be such a taboo, and now you see it’s so accepted. I’m proud of making a difference in how people approach difficult issues.
“I’m also proud of my working relationships that I have with everyone in the clinic. I feel like I’m a person people can talk to. I enjoy what I do and that has its effect on my staff and others in the clinic.”
Her most recent project was helping to oversee the reception area redesign. Patients and staff are now reaping the benefits of the quieter, more open space that brings the patient reception area up front and moves the workstations and phones in back. “It is more inviting, and that’s the main thing.”
