Welcome to the University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry and to the many wonderful people who bring our mission of patient care, research, and education to life every day with excellence and dedication.

All of us-whether researcher, trainee, care provider, or staff member-work collectively toward the goal of helping people, especially those struggling with mental illness and those who are not getting well.

Housed within a thriving academic health center, we rigorously pursue knowledge to improve mental health. Our program is broad, eclectic, and multidisciplinary: No other place brings together such a unique array of sophisticated technologies, cutting edge science, and innovative collaborations.

Though focused and forward looking, our department cultivates a humanistic atmosphere and commitment to a working in an environment that is satisfying, rewarding, and friendly.

This is a most exciting time in psychiatry at UW-Madison. We have some of the best minds in the field and are fortunate to maintain the public and private support that allows us to continually grow and expand our reach. So whether you come here for career development or patient care, I am confident you will benefit from the people and programs within Psychiatry.
