What is fMRI?


fMRI = functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)

  • nA noninvasive, painless medical test
n
  • nA type of Magnetic Resonance Imaging that measures changes in parts of the brain as they are used
            - relatively new procedure
            - produces detailed pictures of internal body structures
            - does not use ionizing radiation (x-rays)
  • n The method of choice for understanding how a brain is working
